Blueprint Revealed: What is the Status of the 10-year Plan?

Each week, Dismantle Poverty’s Megan Matthews answers a question about the Poverty Reduction Work Group’s mission to reduce poverty and inequality in Washington State.

Here’s this week’s entry.

“What is the status of the 10-year plan?”

Our guiding principle is “maximize the system we have while we build the system we need.” This captures the desires of those who want to dismantle oppressive systems as well as those who are using the systems we currently have.

With that principle in mind we are partnering with agency leaders, community organizations, Tribal leaders, committees, and groups to streamline services to make our current systems and services easier to access and navigate for people who need them. We are also collaborating with leaders to develop, strengthen, or support legislation to build a future system that is just and equitable.

Finally, we continue to engage and educate those in our communities about the Blueprint to increase awareness and support for the Plan. We hope this will help influence change and empower those in positions of power to do what they can to further and advance this work.
